Nairobi, 20 February 2025: Our organisations wish to inform the public, media, and all supporters that the planned protest against the continued detention of Dr Kizza Besigye and others illegally detained in Uganda has been rescheduled. In accordance with the law, notices were served with the OCS this morning.
Originally set for Friday, 21st February 2025, the protest will now take place on Monday, 24th February 2025, at 10 am, Aga Khan Walk – National Assembly, and 2 pm, Riverside Square – Uganda High Commission Riverside Drive, Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
We changed the date to accord the Uganda court the opportunity to hear and act on the collective voice of Ugandans, East Africans, the Commonwealth and the international community for a fair legal trial, the immediate release of Ugandan political prisoners in Uganda and justice and respect for human rights to prevail in Uganda.
We call on all concerned with the current situation of Dr Kizza Besigye, Obeid Lutale, Advocate Erron Kizza and the incarceration of Ugandans on the basis of their political conscience to join us in a peaceful procession to present a petition to the National Assembly and the Uganda High Commission.
