Amnesty International Kenya upholds the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and transparency in all its operations. In line with Clause 114-147 of the Amnesty Kenya Governance Manual, we maintain zero tolerance for corruption, financial mismanagement, human rights violations, or any unethical conduct.
We encourage our staff, members, volunteers, and the public to report any legitimate concerns regarding misconduct, malpractice, fraud, discrimination, or abuse with the confidence that due process will be followed, and both the whistleblower and the accused will be treated fairly.
What is Whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is the activity of a person, often an employee, revealing information about activity within a private or public organization that is deemed illegal, immoral, illicit, unsafe or fraudulent.
As outlined in Clause 116 of our Governance Manual, whistleblowing refers to the reporting of suspected:
✅ Misconduct, fraud, or corruption
✅ Human rights violations or abuse of authority
✅ Financial mismanagement or misuse of resources
✅ Unethical or illegal activities
✅ Violations of Amnesty Kenya’s policies, values, or national laws
✅ Deliberate cover-up of any of the above actions
If you suspect or have evidence that any of the above has happened, please file a report urgently.
Your Protection as a Whistleblower
Amnesty Kenya ensures that whistleblowers acting in good faith are protected, as per Clause 121-122, from:
🛡 Retaliation, dismissal, or demotion
🛡 Harassment, threats, or stigmatisation
🛡 Exclusion from opportunities such as promotions
🛡 Legal or criminal liability when disclosures are made honestly
💡 Note: False or malicious reports may result in disciplinary action, as stated in Clause 120.

Investigation & Resolution Process
Your allegation will be reviewed and forwarded to an independent person to do an initial assessment in line with our Governance Manual clauses 126-139. You may-be called upon to provide more information. Your allegation will be fairly and swiftly investigated, a decision will be taken, and this decision will be communicated back to you.
