My journey to you was forged by a long line of Sudanese women who have fought for peace and justice in our communities for decades, well before we arrived at this important moment in the future of Sudan. I wouldn’t be here without them.
Alaa Salah
We have named this room after Alaa Salah, the iconic Sudanese student and activist whose image, draped in white and leading chants from atop a car, became a symbol of hope and resistance during Sudan’s 2019 revolution. Her courage in standing against oppression and her role in mobilizing peaceful protests inspired millions, especially young women, to demand freedom, justice, and democracy. Alaa’s voice amplified the collective will for change, embodying the power of youth and the resilience of Sudanese women in the face of tyranny. This room stands as a tribute to her bravery and a testament to the enduring fight for human rights and equality..
