Oppression needs people who can bear it
Prof. Mesfin Woldemariam
We proudly named this meeting room after Prof. Mesfin Woldemariam, a distinguished Ethiopian human rights advocate, Prisoner of Conscience, and lifelong defender of social justice. As founder of the Ethiopian Human Rights Council, Mesfin dedicated his life to challenging oppression and uplifting marginalized voices, often risking his own freedom to protect freedoms of speech and assembly. His courage and integrity remain a beacon across Africa, inspiring those who believe in a fairer, more just world. The “Mesfin Woldemariam Room” honors his legacy and reminds us daily of the resilience needed to stand up for human rights.
