CONSULTANCY OPPORTUNITY: OUTCOME-HARVESTING CONSULTANT

Amnesty International Kenya (AIK) is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct an outcome-harvesting exercise for its work in 2024. The consultant will evaluate and document the outcomes achieved, focusing on AIK’s partnerships, program impact, and alignment with the Amnesty Kenya 2024-2028 Strategic Plan. The assignment is envisaged to be completed by November 2024.

Background

Amnesty International Kenya is a non-governmental human rights organization that forms part of the global Amnesty International movement, which advocates for the protection and promotion of human rights worldwide. AIK works to ensure that every person in Kenya enjoys the full range of their rights, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Kenyan Constitution.

Since its inception, Amnesty Kenya has been dedicated to campaigning for human rights with a strong focus on social justice, civic engagement, and protecting vulnerable communities. With a robust network of members, partners, and supporters, AIK has played a significant role in shaping national human rights discourse. Amnesty Kenya works through its over100 Circles of Conscience across 31 Counties.

The 2024-2028 Strategic Plan is AIK’s third strategic plan and builds on the successes and lessons learned from the previous years. This new strategy focuses on deepening impact, strengthening advocacy efforts, and ensuring that human rights remain at the core of Kenya’s socio-political agenda. As the strategic plan enters its second year of implementation, the outcome harvesting exercise will serve as a crucial tool for understanding the early impacts and laying a foundation for continuous learning and improvement.

Objective of the Consultancy

The consultancy’s purpose is to conduct an outcome-harvesting exercise that captures significant outcomes and the contributions of AIK’s work. The findings will highlight AIK’s impact in 2024 and provide strategic insights for refining future programs as we enter the second year of our strategy. This will include a comprehensive report with detailed findings and a succinct one-page summary.

Scope of Work

The consultant will:

  1. Engage with Key AIK Boundary Partners: as outlined in the strategic plan: Document engagement with each stakeholder to assess AIK’s influence on desired outcomes
    • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Grassroots Networks.
    • Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Networks, including (police reform working group, End FemicideKe, Human is my ID alliance.
    • Media and Communications Partners
    • Government Agencies and County Governments
    • Amnesty International Members and Volunteers
  2. Facilitate a Participatory Outcome Harvesting Workshop: Involve AIK staff, outreach coordinators and Circles of Conscience (COCs) in analyzing and validating key outcomes from the 2024 program interventions. Integrate workshop findings into the final report.
  3. Assess and Document  Alignment with AIK’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan: Analyze and provide insights on how well AIK’s activities align with its strategic priorities.
  4. Produce a Comprehensive Report Detailing the outcomes harvested, the significance of these outcomes, success stories, and recommendations for future programming.

Key Deliverables

  1. Comprehensive Outcome Harvesting Report: A full report outlining the outcomes harvested, stakeholder contributions, success stories, and recommendations.
  2. One-Page Popular Version: A concise and visually appealing summary of the key findings for broader dissemination.

Duration and Timeline

  • Start Date: 21st October 2024
  • End Date: 14th November 2024
  • Regular check-ins with the AIK team throughout the assignment
